Itinerary

Tour hightlights include:

Former Tempelhof Airport Originally Germany's first air strip where even the Kaiser witnessed his first flight, Tempelhof rose to extreme importance as West Berlin's lifeline during the Berlin Airlift of 1948/1949. It's recently been closed and is now a massive city park.

Tacheles Gallery A classic example of colliding ambitions is Tacheles. Originally a pre-World War II department store, after the fall of the Wall its remains transformed into gallery spaces, bars, and a cinema.

Counter-culture Berlin's unique history has led it to be a bastion of counter-culture. What may not be accepted elsewhere, or at least deemed radical thinking, is considered an integral part of life in Berlin. Unitential creative spaces left as scars from WWII and as the city was divided during the Cold War, have proved a fertile ground for counter culture to flourish.

Berlin is an incredibly diverse city. While this leads to it being a colorful melting pot of ideas, some integration issues and prejudices have brought forth some caustic issues.

" A great tour of historic and contemporary Berlin "
5 out of 5 stars
A great tour, Walid the tour guide gave a great commentary as we cycled around the city, he showed us both the historical and contemporary side of Berlin, in a humorous and 'charming way' with interesting insights, the lunch stop at a locals cafe was good and very reasonably priced, he took safely on the roads seriously and looked out for us throughout the tour allowing for plenty of photo stops and questions. We had a few families with very young children on the tour whom it was not really suitable for, I know my 9 year daughter would not have enjoyed it and cycling on the busy city roads would be a challenge for any child, in my opinion 12+ would be a suitable age. Although together a great tour I will come again.
